Luna’s Coffee, Wine, and Butterfly Cafe

Updated: May 15, 2021

Today, I’m particularly excited about this review because it is for a cafe recently opened by friends of mine. Luna’s Coffee, Wine, and Butterfly Cafe is just outside of Lexington in Jessamine County on Harrodsburg road. Luna's is a delightful, family-friendly cafe and bar with a uniquely-relaxed and ethereal feel. Dishes include tasty salads, sandwiches, quiches, soups, and charcuterie boards to share.

Truly, everything on the menu seemed appealing, and we had a hard time choosing what to try. In the end, we settled on the quiche, tomato soup, and grilled cheese sandwich, all of which hit the spot for our brunch today. (Truth be told, I can’t ever resist the perfect pair of tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich and get super excited when they’re on the menu.) While we waited on our meal, we walked over to where the moths and butterflies were kept in their box beside the front windows. How neat to be up close and have a glimpse of nature at work!

The sandwich was a delicious blend of three cheeses, served on sourdough, with fresh herbs and onions. The soup was a thicker consistency, flavorful, and, of course, a lovely complement to the grilled cheese. Chris ate the quiche before I noticed he started, so we’ll mark it as a winner, too.

And if what you’re in the mood for is a potent libation, Luna’s has you covered. The spicy bloody Mary was perfect in our book, and included just enough tasty nibbles to make an appetizer out of the drink.

When you make it to Luna’s next, look for us, because we will be back!
